2025 SXSW Music Festival - Friday 3/14 OYA BABY, Peterson Brothers, Mix 94.7 West of the Fest, Billboard Presents THE STAGE at SXSW Grupo Frontera & Coconut Club

Friday, March 14, was nothing short of an adventure at the SXSW Music Festival. We hit the ground running early and kept moving through a packed schedule filled with artist interviews, legendary performances, and unforgettable moments that remind us why this festival is such a vital part of Austin's music scene. Here’s how the day unfolded.

Starting the Day with OYA BABY at Halcyon Coffee

We kicked things off with an interview with OYA BABY at Halcyon Coffee, a perfect afternoon spot to sit down and talk music. Signed by Flo Rida, she has built her own path in the industry with hip-hop but is now embracing her Latin roots, releasing Spanish-language tracks that showcase her evolution as an artist. OYA BABY showcased at Speakeasy Kabaret in the evening of Thursday 3/13.

Stay tuned for the full interview dropping soon!

SXSW Day Party Celebrating 50 Years of The Blues at Antone’s & Interview with The Peterson Brothers

Next, we made our way to Antone’s, the legendary blues club celebrating its 50th anniversary. SXSW put together a special event, and we had the privilege of interviewing The Peterson Brothers backstage in the green room.

Their energy, joy, and family dynamic translate directly into their music. Watching them perform live, you can feel the soul and connection they bring to every set. If you haven’t seen them yet, add them to your list. The full interview will also be out soon!

Mix 94.7 Fest of the West at Buford’s with Plain White T’s & Shinedown

Our friends Alex Franco & Sean Mack from 94.7 invited us to their Fest of the West at Buford’s on West 6th, where we got to relive the 2000s with Plain White T’s and Shinedown.

Hearing Plain White T’s & Shinedown was a time capsule moment, their music has aged beautifully and seeing them live was a reminder of why they were such an essential part of that era. Big thanks to Alex & Sean for having us!

Billboard Presents THE STAGE at SXSW Grupo Frontera at Moody Amphitheater

The night continued with Grupo Frontera headlining the SXSW Billboard showcase at Moody Amphitheater, supported by DJ Gabby Got It and Danny Ritmo.

We went in looking to capture something special, and we did. Among the crowd, we noticed a little girl holding a sign that read:

"YO ME JALO A CANTAR CON GRUPO FRONTERA" (English Translation “I AM DOWN TO SING WITH GRUPO FRONTERA”)

It was a moment we couldn’t ignore. We helped her get closer to the stage, hoping the band would notice her. And they did. At the end of the show, Grupo Frontera brought her backstage, she got to meet them, take photos, and even got dance with Payo.

This is what music is all about. The power to connect, inspire, create memories & also empathize when someone is under represented or needs a hand.

Late-Night Networking & Caguamas at Coconut Club

To wrap up the night, we headed to Coconut Club for some networking. There, we connected with Edgar Alejandro, brought in by BMI, and we made sure he got the Caguama he was looking for.

It was the perfect way to end a long but eventful day, full of interactions with artists, industry professionals, creatives and music lovers who make SXSW a true celebration of sound and culture.

Stay tuned for our final SXSW Music Festival recap dropping Wednesday 3/19, where we’ll share how we closed out the festival with musicians whom we’ve had the honor to share their stories in our platfom.

For now, enjoy this recap and keep an eye out for our exclusive interviews with OYA BABY & The Peterson Brothers!
